Walk the Walkway
Southern Edgewater

When: Sunday October 4, 2020; 9:00 AM – noon.

Meet: 9AM at the Trader Joe’s Parking Lot, 715 River Road, Edgewater, NJ 07020.  Walk starts 9:30AM.

Driving Directions: Get onto River Road.  If you're coming from the north, make a left into the Trader Joe's shopping center.  If you're coming from the south, make a right into the Trader Joe's shopping center.  Meet at the rear of the parking lot near the Binghamton River Boat.

Nearest Light Rail Stop: None convenient to the walk

Walk Description: The Walkway in this section of Edgewater is not complete and is under construction in several sections.  The Walk starts heading south from where the Binghamton Ferry Boat restaurant used to be.  The Binghamton has been abandoned for many years and the Walkway is in disrepair. Continue through the Trader Joe’s shopping center parking lot and detour to River Road to pass former site of the Hess Oil terminal. Development of this site and a future Walkway is being planned.  Rejoin the Walkway as it passes the Mitzuwa shopping center, a golf range and the Edgewater Commons shopping center. Continue through the large City Place condominium facility and detour again to River Road to pass the Quantas Superfund site that is being remediated by the EPA. End at the brand new I-Park development, an old Unilever Research facility that includes condominiums, retail stores and a new Municipal Building for Edgewater.

Walk Distance – 3.0 miles Round trip                      Walk Duration – 2.5 hours
