Gov Murphy's DEP saved LSP's Caven Point by its rejection of Liberty National Golf Course's proposal to lease away and destroy this priceless urban habitat behind Lady Liberty, a haven for wildlife, environmental education and nature explorers of all ages.

Many thanks to the Friends of LSP's co-leader in this grassroots effort, the NY/NJ Baykeeper with its Exective Director Greg Remaud, and to all park supporters and to all local and statewide groups who spoke out to protect this peaceful urban sanctuary!

The Jersey Journal story is here and The Record story is here. The DEP letter to the Golf Course is here.

Tremendous thanks to Gov Murphy and the great NJDEP leadership team of Acting DEP Commissioner Catherine McCabe, Assistant Commissioner of Natural and Historic Resources Ray Bukowski, and Director of the Green Acres Program, Martha Sullivan Sapp.

A beautiful silent video (except for bird sounds), "The Wildlife of Caven Point, an Untamed Estuary" by John Dunstan is here. An amazing"360" moveable video by Jon Tobias of the 3/3 nature walk protest with 250 people participating is here.

John Dunstan, a local photographer, has created a film that dramatically shows why Caven Point needs to remain undisturbed as part of LSP. You can watch the film at  https://vimeo.com/240773305.
